seeing tripple at the palestra

Last week, the Philadelphia Catholic League was seeing triple. Regina Angelorum Academy graduates Felicity (’20), Maddie (’21) and Abbie (’23) McFillin took the Palestra by storm in the PCL championship game.  The McFillin sisters play for Archbishop Carroll High School’s Girls Varsity Basketball who advanced to the championship game on February 26, 2024.

The McFillin’s are three of six siblings.  Felicity, Maddie, and Abbie are the oldest, followed by Frank, Maren and Max.  Parents Matt and Maureen McFillin couldn’t have been more proud.

“I said look up, look at this.  It’s packed.  This will never happen again for these girls; all three of them on the same court in front of a sold-out Palestra,” said Matt McFillin.

The was a true PCL classic…a white-knuckle, double-overtime slog which saw Archbishop Wood emerge victorious against the Carrol Patriots.

Matt and Maureen McFillin have two rules for their kids when playing sports:  Hustle and have fun.  By every measure, the McFillin sisters took their parents’ advice.  Felicity and Maddie started their high school basketball careers at Harriton High School before transferring to Carrol when their sister decided to enroll there.

Owen McCue’s in-depth piece on the McFillin’s appeared on the City of Basketball Love website.
