Mrs. Emily Rice, Art and Director of Institutional Development

Mrs. Emily Rice  received  an AB in Political Science from Bryn Mawr College in 1990 and a MA/PhD, ABD in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania in 1995.  Mrs. Rice joined RAA as an Art teacher in 2012 with over ten years of curriculum development and classroom experience combined with a strong appreciation for the natural integration of the humanities and creative disciplines.  RAA’s Art program under Mrs. Rice’s direction thus seeks to support the students’ classroom studies while training them in the means of articulate visual expression.  Each year the arts curriculum guides students through age-appropriate experiences in a variety of media, building on what they have learned to improve their technical mastery and develop each child’s individual style.  “Teaching our children the basic principles of art simultaneously sensitizes them to God’s gift of beauty and gives them practical tools to communicate effectively in the visual culture in which we live.”
